Introduction
NEMA 1 and 2 enclosures can be ventilated for applications where heat can be an issue. In spite of that, both offer protection to users from live wires and circuits, as well as protection against falling dirt. A type 2 enclosure will also protect against some dripping or splashing water.
Application
The actual part components manufactured vary from application to application. Sometimes our customers choose to use a sheet metal frame to help with EMI or to make it easier to house multiple PCBs or electronic components within the custom designed electronic enclosure. Other times, the metal application may be for structural strengh as shown with our monitor mounts seen on this page. Whatever the application, we have the experienced team to integrat TZR with precision sheet metal fabrication.
Advantage
Metal is a solid material, has a high impact resistance, and can handle high temperatures without melting.
When these machines are used in industrial settings, metallic materials protect the electronics from alcohol, solvents, hydraulic oils, gasoline, and much more.
Metal is electrically conductive which is important for electromagnetic interference— or EMI—sensitive applications.
Another reason metal enclosures are preferred in the electrical device manufacturing industry? They reduce emissions and protect against outside external noises.
